01 · Challenge

The challenge

For two sites in the central U.S., Mid-America Services needed two 3000A, 480Y/277V main distribution switchboards, each with a 3000A LSIG main breaker, a 120V shunt trip, 65 kA bus bracing, a 200 kA surge protective device and its own schedule of feeder breakers.

02 · Build

What DEI built

Two UL 891 low-voltage main distribution switchboards, each 3000A at 480Y/277V, three-phase four-wire, 65 kAIC, in a NEMA 1 indoor enclosure with tin-plated aluminum bus braced for 65 kA and front-accessible terminations. Each is built around a Siemens WL 3000A main breaker with an LSIG trip unit, a 120V shunt trip and Dynamic Arc Flash Sentry for arc-energy reduction under NEC 240.87, and carries ten 65 kAIC distribution breakers, a 200 kA surge protective device and spare breaker provisions laid out for its own site. One DEI submittal, dated June 2026, covers both boards.

Engineered, fabricated and assembled under one roof in Jurupa Valley, California.

Each board’s distribution section was laid out to its own site’s feeder schedule, and its incoming feed arranged for that site: bottom-fed for one, bottom/back-fed for the other. The bottom/back-fed board shipped in August 2026 and the other has also shipped; both are delivered as of September 2026.

The result

Two 3000A main distribution switchboards from one DEI submittal, shipped to two states and both delivered: a six-figure program.
